Boil Water Advisories Issued for City of McCune and Bourbon County RWD #4

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water advisory for the City of McCune in Crawford County and for Bourbon County Rural Water District #4 in Bourbon County.

Both advisories went into effect yesterday and will remain in effect unti it is rescinded by the KDHE. Customers in McCune and of RWD #4 in Bourbon County should boil water for at least one minute prior to consumption. Dispose of ice cubes from trays and automatic ice makers and disinfect dishes and food preparation surfaces until further notice.

KDHE officials issued the advisory for McCune because of a waterline break resulting in a loss of pressure in the distribution system and for Bourbon County #4 due to an equipment malfunction at the water treatment plant.

Regardless of whether the public water supplier or KDHE announced a boil water advisory, only KDHE can rescind the order following testing at a certified laboratory.
