Authorities in Chanute are investigating a possible explosion at a local residence.
A press release from the Chanute Fire Department indicates that fire crews were called to a house on West 16th Street just after 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. There, firefighters discovered a structure fire with a possible explosion. Crews remained on the scene for more than an hour to ensure the blaze was extinguished and to secure the area.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
