A truck driver in Chase County is injured when a piece of ice from an oncoming vehicle strikes his windshield.
The tractor-trailer was traveling along US-50 last week when a piece of ice broke loose from the roof of an oncoming minivan and struck the windshield of the big truck. The truck's windshield shattered on impact, leaving the truck driver with minor cuts and bruises. While the driver managed to bring the semi under control, Chase County deputies say it could have been much worse. The deputies stress the importance of clearing your vehicle of snow and ice during bad weather.
A similar accident occurred in Montgomery County during last week's snowstorm when a vehicle on US-169 near Cherryvale was struck by ice. That driver was also injured when the ice shattered their windshield as well.
