Montgomery County to Adjust Mill Levy for Fredonia & Neodesha

Some taxpayers in Montgomery County will see an adjustment to their taxes.

At this week's Montgomery County Commission meeting, County Treasurer Nancy Clubine explained the issue. Clubine says the problem affects several parcels in the Sycamore area.

Clubine says the county has a couple of options to correct the problem.

The issue only affects taxpayers who live in Montgomery County but whose children attend school in Fredonia or Neodesha. Commissioners did not make a decision at this week's meeting, opting instead to wait until next week in order to determine the exact number of affected parcels.

In other business, KGGF News spoke with County Administrator Jonathn Booe about the proposed RAISE grant for a road construction project near the Bartlett Plant. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $15.5 million, of which, 80% or $12.4 million would be paid for by the RAISE grant. Another grant from Build Kansas would cover an additional $3.1 million, leaving the total cost to the taxpayers of Montgomery County at around $155,000.
