A former Burlington High School teacher and wrestling coach is sentenced in a sex abuse case.
32-year-old Michael Vander Linden was sentenced yesterday (Thursday) to 36 months in prison and lifetime registration as a registered offender for three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Vander Linden pleaded no contest to the charges in October. Agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation arrested Vander Linden in February after two former students reported he had engaged in sexual intercourse with them between 2012 and 2013. Both were 15 years old at the time the incidents occurred.
Vander Linden will remain in the custody of the Coffey County Sheriff's Office until he is transferred to the Kansas Department of Corrections to begin his sentence.
