Challenging winter driving conditions are keeping first responders busy.
Around 4:30 this afternoon, the Kansas Highway Patrol, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Coffeyville Regional Medical Center EMS and the Dearing Kansas Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 166 just east of County Road 5500. Witnesses report the westbound truck was rear-ended by the car. No injuries were reported. Sheriff's deputies also assisted motorists with an eastbound SUV off in the ditch just east of CR 5500.
As the winter weather continues, drivers are urged to use extra caution and plan for greatly increased stopping distances until road conditions improve.
