The Independence City Commission will meet tonight for its first meeting of 2025.
At tonight's meeting, the commission will reorganize for the new year. They will select the new mayor and vice-mayor, as well as designating the official city newspaper and city depository. Also on the agenda are public hearings for several properties in the city that have been deemed dangerous and unsafe.
The commission will also consider a proclamation making January 19th Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Day.
Tonight's meeting begins at 5:30 in the Commission Room at City Hall.
