The Parsons Police Department launches a Domestic Violence Unit.
In 2024, PPD responded to 149 domestic violence calls. PPD recognized the urgency of addressing this crisis and took action by applying for the Federal Byrne State Crisis Intervention Grant. The two-year grant provides funding to establish the Parsons Domestic Violence Unit, which officially opened on September 1st.
PPD says they are committed to making a lasting impact through the DVU by addressing the issue on multiple fronts including law enforcement, victim support and community education. The DVU aims to reduce the prevalence of domestic violence in Parsons and beyond.
