The year's first winter storm is over and the National Weather Service is tallying just how much snow fell in Kansas this week.
While much of southeast Kansas just saw a dusting of snow, other areas of the state received record-setting amounts. The City of Chapman in Dickinson County and Wamego in Pottawatomie County topped the list of snowfall amounts, with each receiving 18 inches of snow. Topeka received 17 inches of snow, prompting Governor Kelly to close state offices in the capital for two days. A foot of snow fell in Salina, while 4 ½ inches fell in Derby and 1 ½ in Ark City. Areas of Crawford County got an inch of snow. Most areas in southeast Kansas got less than an inch of snow.
