A Wichita man is sentenced to time in federal prison for his part in a trafficking ring trading in human remains.
39-year-old Angelo Pereya was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for transporting stolen human remains. That's according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. The former pathology assistant admitted to stealing organs, limbs, and fetal remains from a Kansas hospital. Pareya was charged in May with interstate transport of stolen goods and pleaded guilty to a Criminal Information in the case.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says this was part of a multi-year investigation involving multiple suspects. Five other defendants have already pleaded guilty in the case.
