Area Road Conditions Good While Others Icy and Slick

Roads and city streets in Coffeyville and Independence appear good with the possibility of some slick spots after the year's first winter storm descends on the Midwest.

The Kansas Department of Transportation KanDrive website reports road conditions are worse to the north, east, and west of Coffeyville. Road conditions change from seasonal to partially covered along US-400 east near Parsons to the state line and north around Neodesha. Conditions on 400 worsen to completely covered around Beaumont. Dangerous road conditions persist in the northeast and north-central parts of the state.

Eastbound I-70 is closed from the Ellsworth County line in western Kansas to the Missouri state line while the westbound lanes are closed from the Missouri state line to the City of Hays.

In Oklahoma, ODOT says streets in the Tulsa metro area are slick while in northeastern Oklahoma, roadways may have slick spots. Drivers should proceed with caution.
