Winter weather can create a lot of problems for homeowners.

Sun Groups Keith Beaumont says a properly insulated home is crucial.  Beaumont says another important step is making sure pipes don't freeze.

Beaumont says to disconnect any garden hoses and to make sure the sprinkler system is winterized. Check for any low-hanging branches or trees that could become a hazard when covered in snow or ice. Trimming them back can prevent damage to a home, roof or power lines.
