An early morning accident on the Kansas Turnpike leaves two people dead, including an infant.

 

The accident happened just after midnight Thursday morning on I-35 just west of Mulvane in Sumner County. A semi-truck struck a Chevy Express van hauling a trailer, causing the van to overturn. A Jeep Grand Cherokee then also collided with the van.

 

Killed in the accident were two passengers in the van, 58-year-old Ernestina Eumana-Alvarez and an infant Christian Gutierrez. Five other passengers in the van sustained serious injuries.

 

The driver of the Jeep along with two passengers received minor injuries in the crash.
