A winter storm is expected late this weekend.
The latest from the National Weather Service indicates north central and northeast Kansas is the most likely area to see winter weather, although there's a 20-30% chance southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri could see some storm impacts.
The peak intensity of the storm is expected during the day on Sunday, and it could bring a mix of freezing drizzle, freezing rain and show. At least minor snow or ice accumulations are expected.
Falling temperatures and gusty winds in the wake of the storm will bring very cold wind chills by Monday morning, with single-digit values north of I-40. January 7th - 13th will bring below seasonal temperatures for the entire listening area.
