State lawmakers are preparing for the new session of the Kansas Legislature.
State Senator Virgil Peck says one of the important issues in the Senate will be property taxes.
One item the State Senate has already checked off its list is the selection of leadership. The State Senate chooses its leaders every four years. Peck says southeast Kansas will be well represented in the positions of top leadership.
Both the State Senate and House will convene for the 2025 session on January 13 in Topeka.
