KS Governor Directs More Than $1.5 Million to Support Domestic Violence Survivors

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announces funding to Support Domestic Violence Survivors and families.

Kelly announced on Monday over $1.5 million for 20 organizations to support efforts aimed at preventing family, domestic, and dating violence. The funds will also support providing critical services to survivors of domestic violence and increasing safe parenting time for non-custodial parents with their children.

Area organizations receiving funding include Hope Unlimited in Iola, which will receive nearly $50,000. Another $70,000 will go to the Safehouse Crisis Center in Pittsburg. The grant funds enable organizations to deliver a wide range of services. It will also provide critical funding to support children and families in need of supervised exchange or visitation services.

This funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Family Violence Prevention and Services Act and the State Access and Visitation Program.
