Governor Kelly Orders Flags at Half Staff to Honor Former President Carter

Governor Laura Kelly orders flags across the state to be flown at half-staff in honor of former President Jimmy Carter.

Carter, who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, passed away on Sunday at the age of 100. Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his work to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts and to advance democracy and human rights around the world. He and his wife, Rosalynn, helped build, renovate, and repair more than 4,000 homes as ambassadors for Habitat for Humanity.

Kelly called the former president a truly moral man who leaves behind a legacy of humility, a devotion to his community and country, and a belief that the world could live in peace.

Flags are to remain at half-staff until sunset on January 28th.
