For those looking to start the new year outdoors, Elk City State Park is holding a First Day Hike on Wednesday.

There are two different hikes taking place that morning. The Green Thumb Trail hike start at 9:00am and is a one mile hike. At 11:00am is the Table Mound Trail hike, which is a 2.75 mile hike. They will meet at the Timber Road Shelter House for both hikes. There will be free First Day Hike shirts on a first-come first-served basis as well as coffee, hot chocolate and granola bars, courtesy of the Friends of Elk City State Park.

Hikers can walk at their own pace and can turn around at any point during either hike. The park office will be open for anyone with questions. A non-perishable food items can be brought as a donation but is not required.
