More information has been released by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office concerning the investigation into the death of a Wichita man.

 Sheriff's officials were called on December 22 to a report of a deceased individual near the intersection of West Fountain Road and North Upward Lane in Joplin. When arriving, deputies discovered the body of 31-year-old Jacob Urban of Wichita. Urban was pronounced dead at the scene. 

 Fountain Road was closed in both directions for several hours by Jasper County deputies. Little information has been released during the initial investigation, which remains ongoing. Officials do say that there is no apparent threat to the public and foul play is not suspected.

 Jasper County Coroner James Harrison says there were no obvious signs of trauma during his initial observation. He says an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
