This year was the smallest yearly hike in grocery prices in six years, with prices up an average of 1.2%.
USDA Economist Megan Sweitzer says several things attributed to high prices from the last few years. Sweitzer says prices for 2025 should continue to trend in the right direction for the consumer.
Sweitzer says grocery store prices weren't the only prices that saw a decrease in 2024. The 1.2% increase in grocery prices for 2024 was lower than the twenty year average at 2.7%.
