The City of Neodesha will see a rise in utility rates in the new year.

 

The City Commission discussed the issue at their most recent meeting. The measure had been tabled at a previous meeting because Commissioner Emily Vail-Keller was absent. Vail-Keller was back in attendance at this meeting and says she has some issues with parts of the proposal.

 

Mayor Devin Johnson says part of the reason for the quick jump in rates is because it's been so long since the last increase.

 

Commissioners voted 2-to-1 in favor of the increase with Vail-Keller being the sole no vote.

 

Even with the new increase, utility rates in Neodesha are still well below the state average. City Manager Brogan Jones stated that the average customer will see about a 12% increase in their monthly bill. Jones added that any Neodesha customer who wants to see what the change in their bill will be, can contact him at city hall.
