LaTurner Address House for Final Time

Kansas Congressman Jake LaTurner addresses the U.S. House of Representatives for the final time.

LaTurner was joined by his four children as he spoke before the House last week. LaTurner spoke fondly of his parents and grandparents and of the role their struggles played in encouraging him to achieve. LaTurner says he has always tried to live up to their example and to our state motto.

LaTurner spoke about the hardships faced by his great-grandparents. He says that just three short generations later, he was granted the privilege of representing the Second District of Kansas.

LaTurner also thanked his colleagues, friends and family, and the people of Kansas. He ended by saying three words for the last time: “I yield back.”

LaTurner's seat will be filled by Derek Schmidt, who won the November general election. The new Congressman will be sworn in when Congress reconvenes on January 3rd.
