VFW Post # 1186 in Independence along with the efforts of Bobby Hise serve up fellowship and food for Christmas.

 

Turkey, ham, potatoes and gravy, green beans, and pie were on the menu yesterday in Independence and served 857 people. More than 35 volunteers provided more than 350 hours of work and took time out of their own Christmas celebrations to help those who might have otherwise spent the holiday alone or without a home-cooked meal.

 

The group served up 30 turkeys and 22 hams, topping their most recent efforts on Thanksgiving.

 

A big thank you to all who lived the spirit of Christmas yesterday in Independence.
