The Montgomery County Commission approves a county cemetery for unclaimed burials.

 

At a recent county commission meeting, Coroner Anne Hoggsett spoke to commissioners about the issue of unclaimed human remains held by the county. Those burials had been taking place in Caney, but officials in that city told the county they had no more room for those burials. At this week's meeting, County Administrator Jonathan Booe says they have reached an agreement for burials at Highland Cemetery located west of Independence.

 

Anyone wanting a copy of the policy on unclaimed human remains may request one from the county.

 

In other business, the county tabled a request by County Treasurer Nancy Clubine for more than $50,000 in additional funding for the motor vehicle office until next Monday's meeting.
