Parsons Middle School Students Hear Anti-Bullying Message

Students at Parsons Middle School hear an important message about bullying.

Parsons student took a break from holiday fun last week to hear an important message about bullying in school. Last Thursday, students heard from a parent who lost a child to suicide from bullying. Kirk Smalley lost his 11-year-old son after the boy took his own life after being suspended for defending himself against someone who had been bullying him for two years. Smalley has traveled the country and visited more than six thousand schools on behalf of the group Stand for the Silent. The group was formed in 2010 and addresses the issue of school bullying and teen suicide with an engaging, factual, and emotional conversation with students. Students were able to ask questions and get answers during the presentation.
