Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt issues an executive order requiring all state workers to return to the office in 2025.
During the Covid pandemic, many state workers opted to change from in-person to remote work. Stitt stated that Covid changed the way the world did business, but that that time has passed and people employed by the state of Oklahoma who are still working from home need to get back to the office.
The Governor's order requires remote workers to return to the office by February 1, 2025, but does allow for agency executives to issue limited exemptions based on non-standard work hours, limited office space, or those who have roles where in-office employment is unreasonable.
Stitt stated that Oklahomans deserve a government that operates with full accountability and delivers services effectively and that returning to a traditional work environment is a critical step in achieving that goal.
