Wilson County may soon be merging two rural water districts together.

 

The county is exploring possibilities to join District No. 5 and District No. 7 together. County attorney John Chenoweth says the location of the merger would be northeast of Fredonia.

 

Rural water district No. 5 has been providing water for Benedict for decades. County Coordinator Kris Marple says this has become more difficult in the last decade or so.

 

No action was taken, as the potential merger is being analyzed by the Mapping Department.

 

Additional items of business were updates from County Clerk Kayla Busch and Road and Bridge Director Kary Tatum. The commission will have a final 2024 meeting on December 27th at 10:30 a.m. at the County Courthouse.
