Parents and teachers in USD 402 Augusta are in shock this week after a school employee is arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a student on a school bus.

 

A school bus aide identified as William Wetzel of Augusta was taken into custody earlier this week after school authorities discovered security video footage from a school bus that allegedly shows the incident.

 

USD 402 Superintendent Matt Ward said in a statement that the district is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation and that a review of other security footage suggests this was an isolated incident.

 

Wetzel is currently being held without bond.
