A Chanute man is charged with the rape of a mentally deficient person.

 

55-year-old William McDonald Jr. was taken into custody on Saturday after the Chanute Police Department responded to reports of an incident over the weekend.

 

McDonald faces charges alleging sexual intercourse with a mentally deficient person.

 

Authorities have not released any further information in order to protect the identity of the victim.
