The city of Caney reviewed their insurance in their regular session meeting last night.
Overall, insurance rates decreased for individual city employees, however, rates for families increased. Mayor Josh Elliott says that current employees with families will not see a decrease in their pay in 2025.
For future employees, the city will continue to cover the employee 100%, while spouses and children will be covered 50%. Elliott says focusing on current employees is important.
In other business, updates were given on the water project and Caney Grocery, and three council persons, Valerie Hurd, Addie Traxson, and Debbie Wood, were recognized on their final council meeting during their terms.
