Prosecutors in McDonald County, MO, announce they are dropping the charges in a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed 59-year-old Michael Pruden on November 2.
The Prosecutor’s Office says the charges are being dropped due to false statements made by a McDonald County deputy in a probable cause affidavit. The affidavit stated that a serial number on a piece of debris left at the scene linked it to the suspect’s vehicle. However, the number that appears on the piece of debris is actually a model number that fits several other model-year vehicles other than the one belonging to the suspect. Prosecutors say that further investigation and evidence will be needed to pursue charges in the case.
