Western KS Traffic Stop Reveals 45 Pounds of Meth

A traffic stop in western Kansas leads to the discovery of 45 pounds of methamphetamine.

The Seward County Sheriff's Office says the stop occurred Wednesday morning on US-54 near Kismet or about 17 miles northeast of Liberal. A deputy stopped a driver for a traffic violation and, during the stop, noticed several indicators of criminal activity. The deputy then conducted a search of the vehicle which led to the discovery of several vacuum-sealed bags containing a substance believed to be meth. The 48-year-old male driver was taken into custody and is being held in the Seward County Jail in Liberal.

The Sheriff's office has not released the suspect's name or specific details on the charges.
