Montgomery County To Reprint Erroneous Property Tax Statements

A recent mistake on property tax statements mailed to residents in Montgomery County is a topic of heated discussion at this week's Montgomery County Commission meeting.

The error in question was a typo in the dates on several columns on the statement. The amount of taxes due on the statements was correct.

County Treasurer Nancy Clubine tells commissioners that the main reason for the error was that her office was in a hurry to get the statements out.

Clubine adds that technical issues made the problem worse.

The cost to re-print and mail corrected statements to taxpayers would be nearly $22,000 dollars. Commissioner Robert Bever says the county must make things right with citizens.

Commissioners decided to send out the corrected statements. The revised statements will be printed in black and white instead of color.
