Four Fatality Crashes on Kansas Highways Over Weekend

A deadly weekend on Kansas highways sees four fatality crashes that claim a total of six lives.

The first accident occurred on Friday morning around 6:30am on US-56 in Rice County, about 20 miles north of Hutchinson. That single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 26-year-old Gabriel Herron of Kansas City.

A second Friday morning accident happened around 10:30 on US-160 at 14th Street in Harper. A Ford F-150 driven by 49-year-old Joseph Bailey of Kingman side-swiped a light pole and barrier before rear-ending a semi and then striking another vehicle. Bailey sustained fatal injuries in the crash, while the drivers of the other two vehicles were uninjured.

Another fatal accident occurred just after 5am on Sunday when two vehicles collided head-on while traveling on K-4 just north of Topeka. Both drivers – 28-year-old Dylan Harvey of Topeka and 33-year-old Gavin Royer of Valley Falls – died in the crash.

On Sunday evening around 5:30pm, a two-vehicle accident on K-15 about 20 miles northwest of Junction City, claimed the lives of 56-year-old Deanna Hess of Clay Center and 53-year-old Lisa Stevenson of Salina. A minor female passenger in Stevenson's vehicle was seriously injured and taken to a Salina Hospital for treatment.
