The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is offering a $5,000 reward for information on an unsolved homicide investigation in eastern Oklahoma.
The incident occurred nearly a year ago on January 1, 2024, when emergency crews in Latimer County responded to a house fire in Tuskahoma. Inside the burning home, they discovered the body of 92-year-old John Edward Welsh. An autopsy later determined that, in addition to burns and smoke inhalation, Welsh had also suffered blunt-force trauma to the head. Investigators also learned that shortly after the house fire was reported, a vehicle fire occurred just a few miles away, in which Welsh's 2019 Toyota Prius was burned.
Anyone with additional information regarding Welsh's death is asked to contact the OSBI at tips@osbi.ok.gov or 1-800-522-8017.
