Former Missouri Congressman Tapped to Head IRS

 

A former Missouri Congressman has been selected to head the Internal Revenue Service.

 

President-elect Trump made the announcement via social media that he has selected Billy Long to lead the tax agency. Long represented Missouri's 7th Congressional District in southwest Missouri for 12 years from 2011 to 2023 when his time in the House ended due to term limits. Long also ran for a Missouri Senate seat but failed to win the Republican nomination. That seat was won by former State Attorney General Eric Schmitt.

 

Trump state that he has known Long since 2011 and called him an extremely hard worker who is respected by both Democrat and Republican colleagues.
