Transportation and recycling were on the agenda at this week's Parsons City Commission meeting.
The Parsons Tri-City Airport has been the topic of discussion at recent city commission meetings. This week, Commissioner Tom Shaw noted that the airport is doing well in providing sales tax for the city.
Also on the agenda was a new recycling trailer purchased by the city using solid waste grant funding from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Mayor Eric Strait says the bulk of the cost for the trailer comes from the grant.
In other business, the commission also discussed an ordinance that would allow an exemption from the prohibition of parking in front yards for citizens with medical conditions. City Attorney Ross Albertini will prepare a draft of an ordinance detailing the type of surface required for temporary parking for the exemption.
