The City of Independence bids farewell to the outgoing Fire/EMS Chief.

 

Shawn Wallis is stepping down as the Independence Fire and EMS Chief. City Manager Kelly Passauer says there will be a retirement party for Wallis this afternoon.

 

Wallis leaves the position after eight years of leading the department and more than twenty-five total years of service with the City of Independence. Passauer called Wallis an exceptional and selfless leader and thanked him for his many years of service to the community.

 

Fire Captain and Independence Paramedic Aaron Cook has been appointed to take over for Wallis.
