The City of Emporia is expecting big crowds this weekend as the city plays host to the state championships for high school football in Kansas' three largest classes.
The state championships for classes 4A, 5A, and 6A will be played today and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday) at Emporia State University. More than 20,000 people are expected to descend upon the city of Emporia this weekend to enjoy the games. The class 6A championship game will be today at 2, with class 4A to be played at 1pm tomorrow and class 5A at 7.
Class 1A, 2A, and 3A will be played this weekend at Hutchinson Community College, while 8-man and 6-man championships will happen in Greensburg.
