The search for a missing southwest Missouri woman is now a homicide investigation.
Police in Barry County, MO, have been looking for 24-year-old Aspen Lewis of Exeter since Monday, when she was reported missing by her boyfriend, 23-year-old Aaron Malone. After questioning Malone about the woman's disappearance, investigator noticed inconsistencies in his story. Authorities met with Malone on Tuesday and asked him to help them locate Lewis. He agreed that he would take them to her.
Lewis' body was found in a wooded area in the Shell Knob, MO, area.
Malone was taken into custody and is being held without bond. He faces charges of 2nd degree murder, abandonment of a corpse, and tampering with evidence in the case.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Barry County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate.
