The Parsons Police Department reports a new rental house scam circulating via social media.

 

P-P-D has recently taken reports of rental home ads placed on social media. When officers called the number listed in the ads, a male answered the phone and claimed to be the owner. The suspect then requested fees and deposits ranging from $80 to $900. Officers then contacted the actual owners of the homes listed in the ads and discovered that none of them are currently for sale or rent.

 

P-P-D asks anyone who has been a victim of this scam to make an in-person report at the department or to call 620-421-7060.

 

Officers are continuing to follow up on these crimes.
