It's Thanksgiving Day and the biggest decision to make besides which chair is the most comfortable for watching football is … how long can I leave the food out before putting everything in the fridge?
K-State Extension Wildcat District SNAP-Ed Agent Katherine Pinto says, you'll be okay if you follow the two-hour rule.
Pinto adds that leftovers shouldn't be left in the fridge for more than a couple of days.
Divide leftovers into smaller portions and refrigerate or freeze them in covered shallow containers so they cool quickly. The turkey should also be portioned to ensure quick cooling in the refrigerator.
