Governor Laura Kelly announces federal funding for organizations to provide services to victims and survivors of crime.
Three of the sixty-five agencies set to receive funding are in southeast Kansas. In Pittsburg, the Children's Advocacy Center will receive $29,000 and The Safehouse Crisis Center will get $115,000. Hope Unlimited in Iola is also set to receive nearly $90,000.
Kelly says the money gives organizations the ability to continue providing the assistance crime victims and survivors deserve as they stabilize their lives, navigate the criminal justice system, and regain a sense of safety and security.
The funding comes from the federal Victims of Crime Act Victim Assistance grant program.
