As Kansans look forward to the coming holiday season, state legislators are looking forward to the 2025 Legislative Session.
For District 15 state Senator Virgil Peck, that means a focus on taxes. Peck is the Vice-chair of the Senate Assessment and Taxation Committee. Peck says the recent meeting of the Consensus Revenue Estimating Group projects an increase in state revenue from income taxes.
The group also expects the Kansas economy as a whole to experience modest growth as inflation stabilizes. The Consensus Revenue Estimating Group is made up of representatives of the Division of the Budget, Department of Revenue, Legislative Research Department, and one consulting economist each from the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, and Wichita State University. It meets twice a year to make projections regarding the Kansas economy and financials.
