The Montgomery County Commission approves the purchase of an automatic gate for the County Public Works yard.
The yard contains gasoline pumps that allow county vehicles to fill their gas tanks at a lower price than at a commercial gas station. All county vehicles are fueled at this location, with the exception of Sheriff's Department cruisers because the gates to the yard are only open during normal business hours. County Administrator Jonathan Booe says allowing Deputies to fuel their vehicles during off-hours will save the county a considerable amount of money.
The new, automatic gate will allow deputies quick access and will only cost the county $13,500.
In other business, Booe also told commissioners that a public town hall meeting for the RAISE grant will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
