Several street repaving projects in Independence are running smoothly.
That's the word from City Engineer John Garris. At the most recent Independence City Commission meeting, Garris reported on two projects funded by City Connecting Link or C-CLIP grants. Garris says the first of those on East Main Street is nearing completion.
Garris also told commissioners that a second C-CLIP project planned for 10th Street between Main and Laurel has been programmed by the Kansas Department of Transportation and is progressing through the system. C-CLIP projects are funded by state and federal funds with the purpose of improving the state highway system.
