Thanksgiving Travel Expected to Be Heavy This Year

For those traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday this week, Triple A says be patient, as large crowds hit the roads.

Triple-A estimates that nearly 80 million people will be traveling by car or by plane this week. Those numbers are up by nearly two million people as compared to last year Shawn Steward with Triple-A Kansas says, highways in the Sunflower State will also be busy.

The busiest travel times this week are expected to be Tuesday and Wednesday evening and then again on Sunday evening as travelers return home. Steward suggests avoiding those times if possible. However, the roads won't be the only means of travel seeing a lot of traffic this Thanksgiving. Steward says airports will also be busy this year.

Steward says the important thing for travelers to remember this time of year is to be patient and remain cautious to ensure everyone has a fun, safe Thanksgiving holiday.
