The Independence City Commission reauthorizes an ordinance for Industrial Revenue Bonds for Textron.
Commissioners gave their approval for the ordinance at last night's meeting. Bond Attorney from the firm Gilmore Bell Sarah Steele attended the meeting via teleconference. Steele says this is the 21st time the bonds have been reauthorized since their inception in 1996.
The purpose of the bonds is to allow Textron to make improvements at the Independence facility. General Manager of the Independence Textron facility Paula Schabel says the bonds will be used to make some much-needed changes.
Schabel told commissioners that the changes would allow work to proceed without the need to move airplanes in the process.
The next Independence City Commission meeting is set for December 12th.
