Authorities in Altamont release the preliminary cause of death for the victim of the recent fire.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate that 61-year-old Edward Escolas died due to smoke inhalation during the November 14 fire at his motorcycle repair shop on South Huston Street. Fire crews were called to the scene around 10pm on the 14th, where they found the shop fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews from eight different communities responded to a call for mutual aid in battling the blaze. The State Fire Marshal's Office says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
