Fredonia City Manager Reassures Residents Over Lead Line Survey

Residents of Fredonia have recently received mailers from the city regarding a lead water line survey.

City Administrator Even Bolt says the city is required by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Environmental Protection Agency to send out the notices until city officials know what materials make up various water line.

Bolt explained that the city is looking for the types of materials that make up water lines between the meter and the customer's home. He says it may take some time to make the determination for the entire water system, but that people should not be worried about the safety of their water.

Many other area cities have also been asked to reply to lead line surveys. Anyone with questions should contact their local government.
